That is the patient comes in expressing the disease and we the dentist would repair it. In recent years we are trying to move more like medecine towards a "wellness" model. We are trying to have a predictive value of what will happen in the future based on a level of risk and how we can treatment plan it so we can prevent the disease from ever expressing itself. A good eample of this is preventing future severe wear on a person's teeth by sending them to the orthodontist when they are young even though their teeth appear straight. That is because an analysis of their bite may show that although the teeth are straight there is too much friction of their front teeth which can result in severe wear 20-30 years down the line and its not because they grind their teeth as they may be told. So when a patient comes in to our office for a "check-up" they also get a risk analysis of the 4 categories described above. As more and more dental schools start teaching risk assessment, risk analysis and treatment planing based on risk, that is when the profession will be closer to the "wellness" model. As always Acreview Dental is LEADING THE WAY!!!

Dr. Manny KaramanisAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03614240005628502072noreply@blogger.com
